Division: Celo. After abandoning Ceno, Kakashi moved to Celo in an effort to disappear from his history while awaiting the trial regarding his desertion. He’s convinced that he will be exiled to Cena shortly, but in the meantime is consciously choosing the limbo that has overshadowed his life up to this point.

Personality: Kakashi is an extremely private person with a lot of demons. His approach to them however is burial. After all, if he refuses to acknowledge them, they cannot haunt him.

Time has eroded him into a quiet, self-contained man and trained him in the art of deflection. He’s very good at maintaining superficial relationships with people without ever giving anything of himself away. He’s very intelligent and can be strict, but has also been known to pull out a sense of humor to deflate tense or awkward situations.

Background: Few people are as well acquainted with the Machiavellian nature of the Curia District as Kakashi might one day be coaxed into admitting he is.

His first encounter with it was as a child, growing up with his father (a ranking officer of the Arceos) in the Ceno district. After watching his father go mad with despair as the dual nature of their city ate away at him, and discovering the man’s corpse after it had laid claim to suicide, Kakashi found himself face to face with cover-up.

His father’s death was declared an assassination, his identity as an Arceo having been compromised during a violent revolt in the Cena district that he had helped suppress some time ago. The complex realities of the man were neatly trimmed and tailored, edited at will until all that remained was a perfectly packaged fiction. A false man, who had lived and died completely to code and should be remembered as a hero and an example for behavior. Kakashi understood the idea presented to the masses to be that if “his father” could find satisfaction in this life, so could everyone else.

Kakashi excelled in school, proving to be extremely gifted in both mental and physical arenas. He was praised for being well behaved and disciplined; teachers used his sober and aloof persona as a model for the classrooms, constantly telling him that he was doing his father’s memory justice.

The reality of the situation though was that Kakashi had learnt too well the danger of being open with his thoughts and emotions. He had seen the decay of his father to the onslaught of unanswerable questions as well as the eventual irrelevance of his questioning. It didn’t matter what his father had thought or fought for, society had erased the freedom of thought that he had believed to have. Kakashi refused to fall into the trap that had destroyed his father, figuring that if he didn’t care about anything, he could never be destroyed by it.

As is often the case in the minds of youths, Kakashi justified the loneliness resulting from his detachment with an idea of superiority. As time went on, this grew into arrogance.

At twelve, he was drafted into the military school, fated through blood-tradition and natural skill to fall into rank as a defender of this warped reality. His training began first in the Arma but he quickly climbed in status and value, finding himself to be one of the youngest squad leaders in the history of the school.

When a riot erupted along Sero in the Cena district, he was chosen to lead the suppression. Armed with over-confidence and a profound urge to prove himself, he underestimated the situation and only escaped alive when one of his men sacrificed himself.

Kakashi still carries a deep scar over a now perpetually bloodied left eye and a profound lesson in humility and the value of teammates from that day. As well as the memory of his second encounter with cover-up.

According to the records, Kakashi was the one who saved that day and re-established the peace, a record that paved his direct entry into the Arceos. Among the ranks, he discovered great professional success and personal relief. The riot had shaken his ability to lead and take responsibility for the lives of others. As an Arceos, he was completely anonymous and treated as a cog in a much larger machine, freeing his conscience.

At least at first.

Over time, the brutal nature of his masked actions started to weigh on his mind, and the hypocrisies of the government became more and more evident. Finding himself following the same path that had destroyed his father, and vividly remembering the results, Kakashi started to break down. Caught up in a guilt that he was constantly reminded of every time he looked at his disfiguration, he finally decided to take the action that every single person he’d ever cared about had failed to take.

He walked away. He deserted the military and moved out of the Ceno district, face so clearly marked by both his genetic and personal history hidden behind a black mask
